Sprinkler Systems and the Power to Protect

FIRE SPRINKLER CODE AND COMPLIANCE

  •
  • According to NFPA, fire sprinkler systems require annual testing and quarterly main drain testing at each system riser, to analyze the condition of the water supply piping and control valves.  But more importantly, the water flow and tamper switches must be tested at the same time during the fire alarm system test.

    TESTING FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEMS

  •
  • The Building Code states you must flow water (not test electronically) while testing the water flow and tamper switches during the fire alarm test.  In order to flow water, you must be a licensed fire sprinkler contractor.  However, because of the restrictions in codes, a fire alarm company is not permitted to test water flow and tamper switches even though they are connected to the same fire alarm.

As a business owner or manager, you are responsible for hiring a fire alarm company and fire sprinkler company to conduct annual tests on the systems.  Attempting to schedule and coordinate a Fire Alarm & Fire Sprinkler Contractor to perform the tests at the same time is a logistical nightmare.

At John W. Polhemus, we're a licensed fire sprinkler contractor and licensed to perform backflow certifications and inspections.  As a State-Licensed, full-service fire sprinkler company, we can perform both (NFPA 72 and NFPA 25) fire alarm and fire sprinkler inspections at the same time.  In addition, we are also certified to test and inspect backflow preventers and fire pumps.

    REPAIRING FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEMS

  •
  • A fire sprinkler system is an essential part of the fire safety for your building.  The main purpose of your fire sprinkler system is to put out any fire that occurs.  However, the system also has many devices attached to it that either communicate with fire alarm equipment or help the system function properly.  Let's face it, anything can happen to any one piece of the system.

At John W. Polhemus, we can help you keep your fire alarm sprinkler and system operating at peak efficiency.  Superior field service is a fundamental strength, and has made us a preferred service provider.  We offer the full range of scheduled inspections and maintenance services, as well as 24-hour / 365-day emergency service.  Our service capability extends to all major brands, including systems originally installed by other firms.  It also covers fire pumps, backflow devices, special hazards systems & detection and maintenance and repair needs.

    SAVING LIVES WITH FIRE SPRINKLERS

  •
  • Think about it, smoke detectors save lives by providing a warning system; they do not extinguish a growing fire or protect those physically unable to escape on their own.

FIre sprinkler systems help save lives and reduce property damage.  Still, you have to maintain your system with frequent tests. At John W. Polhemus, we help you protect your people and property with fire sprinkler systems you trust.
